Pudding and Tricky were at the Sydney Royal Easter Show today to promote the important work of the Australian Working Dog Rescue.
The Australian Working Dog Rescue is a non-profit institution who gives working dog breeds in council pounds (such as Kelpies, Border Collies and Australian Cattle Dogs) a second chance. The charity operates across Australia and help these dogs find temporary homes, and eventually new owners to prevent them from being put down. On their website you can see all the dogs currently in desperate need of a new home. The organisation recently celebrated its 10th Birthday, is staffed by volunteers and has helped with over 10,000 dog rescues to date.
The Australian Working Dog Rescue has an information stall in the Pet Pavilion and are there to tell you about their important work as well as giving visitors a chance to meet a rescue working dog. Alex was lucky enough to meet Nimble (pictured below) who is quite the star! She’s appeared on television and starred in a short film, and currently holds a 3.03m world doggie high-jump record.
Carey Edwards (and Nimble the Kelpie) chatted with field reporter Alex Dickson.
