Whispers travel fast at the Sydney Royal Easter Show, but when the rumour hit that Prime Minister Anthony Albanese might be wandering the Sydney Royal Easter Show- I had to find out for myself.

Armed with a mic, headphones and my favourite sunnies , I spent the day asking show goers if they’d caught a glimpse of him — and more importantly, if they could put Albo on any ride, which one would it be?

The answers were as colourful as the show itself.

Some suggested the gentler classics: “I’d put him on the Ferris wheel, let him take in the view and see what the people see,” said one woman, balancing a showbag in each hand. Others thought the giant slide would be more fitting — just pure joy, no politics.

But not everyone was so kind. Plenty wanted to see the PM launched into the sky via the Sling Shot, spun wildly on the Sky Flyer, or hurled through loops on the Crazy Coaster. “If he can survive the Sling Shot,” laughed one man , “he can survive another term!”

Despite my best efforts, there was no confirmed Albo sighting. His social media remained suspiciously quiet, and even the officials I asked shrugged with a smile. Was it just a rumour? A bit of Easter Show magic?

Whether real or imagined, the idea of bumping into the Prime Minister among the fairy floss, show bags and thrill rides sparked a lot of curiosity and some hilarious mental images — for everyone I spoke to.
