AFTRS student Wendy Searle admits she’s always had a bit of a crush on Keith Urban. She knows that “Keith” isn’t your typical superstar name, more like your local butcher, or your neighbour who takes your bins out. And he’s from Caboolture, which before he came along was famous only for it’s cheese. Wendy grew up in Brisbane, where cheese from Caboolture was what was reserved for making toasties, not deemed up to scratch for serving to visitors with Jatz.
But despite this, Wendy believes Keith is the living spirit of what happens when you give it a good hot go. He’s not just hugely talented. He’s meant to be super super nice. He first played at the Grand Ole Opry as the back up singer to Slim Dusty, and he was brave enough to confront his own personal issues to ensure his marriage to Nicole not just survived, it thrived.
Speaking on Show Radio earlier today, Wendy says she sees Keith as an outcome of good hard work, talent and Caboolture grit.
Catch Wendy on air again at 3pm Wednesday for more country hits, regional stories, and perhaps more celebrity crushes.
