What’s the difference between Filipino BBQ and Aussie BBQ?
As you approach Mr Aloo’s Noodle Market, the first waft of charcoal barbeque envelops you.
You follow your the aroma, nose first, past all the other food trucks and you see a hollowed out shipping container with smoke pouring out of it and bingo, skewers of juicy meat cooking over fire and that internal animal instinct stirs, quietly in the belly.
It’s hard to walk past Hoy Pinoy when the smells and the visuals are both so inviting, but there’s more to Filipino BBQ than just a smoke show.
I chatted to one of their reps to learn more about Hoy Pinoy and then I asked what people waiting in line to collect their skewer what they liked about Filipino BBQ and how they thought it was different to the good ol’ Aussie BBQ.
