Three AFTRS Radio students and one very excited teacher were lucky enough to be asked by Team Isuzu D-Max to be passengers in the front seats of their utes during their precision driving demonstration today at The Sydney Royal Easter Show.
The drivers put on an incredible performance for the strong lunchtime crowd gathered at Sydney Showground Stadium while the students and teacher screamed with equal measures of excitement and fear in the passenger seats.
All the drivers have years of experience in the motorsports industry and needed only two days of rehearsals on the very tight track to put on a millimeter perfect performance despite the slightly damp conditions.
The drivers demonstrated high-speed formations, where the vehicles are driven in different patterns in a very tight configuration, both forwards and in reverse. There is absolutely no margin for error in these demonstrations and the drivers proved that they were up to the task.
One of the most experienced drivers managed half a lap of the Showground Stadium on just two wheels with three other vehicles in a close procession just a few metres behind. Another part of the demonstration involved the drivers playing a game of “leapfrog” around the showground at high speeds.
This was a truely amazing and memorable event to be a part of and is just as stunning to watch from outside the car as it was from inside. The Team Isuzu D-Max Precision Driving Demonstration is on every day of The Show at Sydney Showground Stadium as part of the Lunchtime Entertainment lineup starting at 12pm.
