Fun in Self-Isolation

We live in an age when it’s easier than ever before to keep in touch with people remotely, and yet lately thanks to Coronavirus we’re still finding ourselves with a lot of time on our hands. While it’s definitely important not to trick ourselves into thinking that we’re being unproductive – self care is important, y’all – it’s still worth thinking about what we can do to make use of this time. Fortunately, I’m here to provide a few suggestions with some insights into how I’ve been passing my days:

  1. Read great literature Stare at bookshelf: Naturally, with all this time on my hands, it’s the perfect opportunity to catch up on all those classic novels I’ve never gotten around to reading before! Perhaps I’ll pick up War and Peace, or finally get my head around Ulysses… Or more likely, I’ll stare at my bookshelf for half an hour, then realise it’s time for MAFS.
  2. Finish a Jigsaw Puzzle Start a Jigsaw Puzzle Wonder why I have so many Jigsaw Puzzles: Seriously where do they all come from? And how are they all missing one piece?
  3. Make healthy, delicious meals Make “inventive” pasta sauce: Thanks to some of us not remembering that sharing is caring at the supermarket, we now have to enjoy dinner staples such as “lentils with hope” and “miscellaneous leftover sandwiches”. Still, necessity is the mother of invention!
  4. Learn to play a musical instrument Learn why I haven’t learned a musical instrument: Look at this nonsense:

8 strings? 8?! Forget it.

5: Write a list-based article: The one true art form still remaining in these troubled times.
