The Sydney Royal Easter Show 2024 kicked off TODAY!
Over 80,000 people poured through the gates this morning, engulfed in excitement. Were they eager to beat the queues for the best showbag? Or, were they salivating for an iconic potato on a stick? AFTRS Show Radio presenter Ella knew exactly where she was going… straight to the Dog Judging Lawn!
Ella’s all time favourite dog breed, the ‘Oodles’, made their debut at the Sydney Royal Dog Show! From Cavoodle to Moodle and everything in between, Ella had oodles of fun on her show. She now has a world of knowledge about these pretty pups.
An ‘Oodle’ gets their name by being cross bred with a Poodle and other dog variations. There are currently over 40 unique cross breeds! The species were first bred in the late 1990’s in Australia, to make the ultimate companion dog.
The ‘Oodles’ have captured the hearts of Aussies and have soared in popularity in recent years. Between 2021 and 2023, the Cavoodle was voted Australia’s number one dog breed. Six other Oodles were also featured in the top 50 list!
Out of the 80,000 Sydney Royal Easter Show attendees, a dog is owned by at least 15,000 of them. ‘Oodles’ make up over 18% of dog ownership in Australia!
Ella put these facts to the test. She went around the Showgrounds and asked attendees to name as many ‘Oodles’ as they could! Take a listen:
Intelligent yet energetic, ‘Oodles’ are an asset to your family home. You’ll never have a ruff day when you’re around an ‘Oodle’!
