Profile: Bec Lavelle

We were very lucky to be joined in studio by the incredibly talented Australian musician Bec Lavelle on Friday night. If her voice sounds familiar, that’s because she was the vocalist for the hit Australian television show MCLEOD’S DAUGHTERS, which ran for 8 seasons and has been screened in 110 countries. The soundtrack albums, of which Bec is the true heart, have sold over 250,000 copies! Or you may have been lucky enough to see her perform at the Sydney Royal Easter Show in the early 2000s.

Bec was born and bred to perform. On her third birthday, her parents gave her dance lessons and ever since that first class, she has put all her focus and attention on performing. Whilst others went to university to study degrees, Bec headed off to Brent Street and concentrated on perfecting her performance abilities. Her first job out was as Rat in the Hat for the Australian tour of BANANA’S IN PYJAMAS. This tour took her all over the country and gave her the opportunity to experience all of Australia, memories which she treasures to this day.

After this tour ended, Bec was snatched up by the Nine Network to work on MCLEOD’S DAUGHTERS. Not only did this give her a national name in Australia, but also numerous international opportunities. Bec returned to Australia in early 2019 after 8 years in Germany, including making it to the Battle Round on the television show, THE VOICE and numerous tours around Europe. Whilst she loved the experience, she is happy to be home and is excited to be back at the Easter Show. Not only does she love to perform here, she also loves the creative Woolworths fruit and veggie displays, the spirited woodchopping competitions and the warm vibe of the show.

Bec will be performing daily at the Woodchop Bar, so be sure to swing by and check her out. If you need more of her music in your life, you can find her on Spotify, iTunes and Google Play or you can hear her on the new BANANA’S IN PYJAMAS, where she sings the theme song.
