Scones for Social Change

If you’re planning to visit The Sydney Royal Easter Show this year, buy a scone from the CWA Tea Room! Not only will the sweet combination of jam and cream satisfy your senses, your donation will contribute to social change for women and children in the NSW community.

The Country Women’s Association of NSW has been supporting women, children and their communities for over 100 years. Back in 1922 when country women were fighting isolation and a lack of health facilities, the CWA was formed. Members have worked tirelessly to fund bush nurses, set up baby health care centres, build and staff maternity wards and hospitals – the list goes on.

The CWA is the largest women’s organisation in Australia. They lobby for change, help the local community and create a network for support, all in their aim to improve conditions for country women and children.

Coming from backgrounds of initiators, fighters and lobbyists, the women that make up the CWA have a heart full of dedication and passion for their cause. Women from the country and the city in NSW connect in their local areas to fundraise and help set policies which are lobbied for at state level.

The CWA Tea Room is an integral part of their Association. Their spot in the Woolworths Food Dome has become an institution at The Sydney Royal Easter Show, and this year will be their 74th year trading! With over 230 CWA volunteers working from 6am until 5pm, over 4000 scones are baked fresh daily. They are consistently fresh, hot, and of course – delectable.

All profits from the Tea Room support the work of the CWA of NSW.

If you indulge in a scone, you are contributing to social change! Served with jam and cream, a CWA scone is a pillowy delight. They are guaranteed to enhance your Sydney Royal Easter Show experience.
