Anne Paterson, was interviewed for Show Radio earlier this week and appeared confident about the upcoming woodchopping events ahead of her.

Anne competes in individual events; 275mm Ladies Underhand Championship and 300mm Ladies Single Handed Sawing Championship. She also competes in “Jack and Jill” events, meaning a duo competes against other teams of two. The woodchop is a unique event in that the competition also includes a handicap event. Anne, or Anne and her partner starting after other teams in a race to finish first.

In Anne’s interview with Show Radio, she encouraged young axemen and women to come down and watch the event. Gauging whether or not it is something for them. She also encouraged young axemen to reach out to NSW Axemen association, who offer memberships for first timers and training days that could give young up and coming athletes a great insight into the sport. She warned aspiring axemen that the sport can come with its expenses too. Membership fees, competition fees, training and equipment all coming with associated costs. Anne detailed her love of team sports growing up, like netball and athletics, likely why she thrives in Jack and Jill events, today.

Post competition Anne boasts the Most Successful Competitor in ladies events and the winner of 300mm Ladies Single Handed Sawing Championship.

Congratulations to Anne and Show Radio is looking forward to an update on her results when she joins Monica in the studio later this week!
