It’s their first year at the Sydney Royal Easter Show and it looks like Mino & Co have the Midas Touch as well as A Growers Touch! This boutique winery from the Riverina region in NSW, is run by the Guglielmino family, who are passionate about displaying their Italian heritage and producing high quality wine. They have three labels under their banner: A Growers Touch, Signor Vino and Little William.
Nick Guglielmino came into the studio to tell us more about A Grower’s Touch, which seeks to promote the growers behind the label. This is evident as soon as you see the label, with beautiful images of wine flowing into cupped, calloused-worn hands. It’s a label renowned for its full-bodied red wines. Guglielmino told us this label had an emphasis on using local fruit for local wine varieties because good wine comes from good fruit.
The drought has made its impact felt even in the wine industry, and a dry year can see a 30-50% drop in yield. Farmers have tried to combat this by pumping more water onto the crops, but this is a risky venture and many farmers have left the industry, finding it more profitable to sell the water than grow the fruit.
If you want to try their delectable vino, make sure you head to their stand in the Woolworths Fresh Food Dome.
