For 80 years, the Royal Double Decker Carousel has been exciting audiences across Australia as the country’s only double-storey carousel ride. Travelling across Australia, the fan favourite has once again made its way back to The Sydney Royal Easter Show to delight patrons young and old.
Ride attendant, Laura, has been travelling with ride across the country for many years and says there is one thing in particular that makes her smile.
“To me it’s a memory. That’s what the Sydney Royal Easter Show is all about” she mentions with a big smile.
“Every year, we have one family in particular who take a photo together and sit on the same horse every year. The mother sat with her grandfather on that horse when she was a child and it has been a tradition for them ever since. It is always so great to see them every year.”
And to celebrate the Queen’s bicentenary, we asked Laura if there was a special horse ready in the event that Princess Anne would like to take a ride whilst at The Sydney Royal Easter Show.
“I really am hoping she comes down to have a go. We have a very special horse ready to go for Princess Anne on the second storey. I will definitely steal a few selfies if she does come down!”
