Are you a creative soul looking for the right kind of support to help you thrive? For artists living with disability or neurodiversity, the path to creative expression can sometimes need a little extra encouragement and the right environment to flourish.
While exploring the Fashion and Arts Hall at this year’s Sydney Royal Easter Show, I came across something truly heartwarming — a vibrant and welcoming art workshop space hosted by Inala, a support service inspired by the philosophy of Rudolf Steiner. Inala has been championing the talents of people with disability for over 60 years, and this year, they brought that passion to the show in a big way.
Set up for a silversmithing class, the space was alive with creativity and care. Behind the worktables stood a stunning wall of artwork — all created by artists with disability — showcasing the incredible talent and vision that often goes unseen. The team of volunteers from Inala spoke with such dedication and pride about their artists and the growth they’ve witnessed through these inclusive programs.
Throughout the show, Inala ran hands-on workshops in felting, screen printing, and metalwork — inviting the public to experience just a taste of what their artists can explore. It was a beautiful example of community, creativity, and inclusion in action.
If you’d like to get involved — whether as a volunteer, by referring a loved one, or simply supporting the work they do — you can learn more at inala.org.au.
