The Sydney Royal Easter Show is showing a special treat this year, the Immersive Balloon Experience. All the way from New York with around 400,000 balloons, the show exhibits a variety of worlds to be explored, fun to be had and most importantly, photos to take.
The exhibition starts off with the interactive photo area, where you can boost that Instagram profile with photos in front of inflatable angel wings, in a hot air balloon, or for something different, maybe sit on a toilet in front of a cascading wall of balloons. There’s a gold mine of photo content available in the first room alone.
Walking into the next area I was unsure what to expect, but my jaw hit the floor almost immediately. I entered an inflatable forest, everything made entirely of balloons. The water, the trees, the landscapes. There was no shortage of animals either, tigers, parrots, monkeys, crocodiles. The level of detail in these amazing sculptures is truly unbelievable.
The exhibit continues with an under the sea fantasy with the feeling of being under a crash wave as the roof is covered with the balloon art. Emerging from the wave, we have a shark baring its teeth, daring to take a bite as you walk by. And a giant octopus they someone managed to have its tentacles moving as you walked underneath.
I am then treated to an out of this world experience, literally. The outer space section had me blown away as the rockets were taking off and I peeked a few little extra-terrestrial friends. I was then finding my way through a maze filled with celebrity balloon sculptures which was so fun to encounter. The landmarks of the world provided a true highlight for me as I looked over at the Eiffel tower and Statue of Liberty.
The Immersive Balloon Experience is truly a fantastic art exhibit. Taking something as simple as a balloon and putting in a mass amount of time and effort to create something truly spectacular. The exhibit will be at the show this year over at the fever pavilion, with a special ticket price of only $15.50 so make sure you get over there and enjoy the scenes.
