If Ain’t Broke Don’t Fix it
Buy less. Choose well. Make it last. Quality, not quantity. Words from celebrated fashion designer, Vivienne Westwood
Think there’s something a little shifty about your phone going on the fritz after two years? Yep…same here.
Driven by concerns of the effects of over consumption, there has certainly been a move in recent years to put pressure on manufacturers to make products that stand up, and be used for years upon years.
So if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it!
…and nobody knows, or does this better than those who live out in the country. Jerry rigging, technical taps, patch jobs, makeshifts, stop gapping and quick fixes are all part of making things last for as long as they can. The endurance of objects adds character, admiration and a kind of partnership we form to the things that we own.
At Show Radio we feel like the mighty Akubra is a testament to that. A mainstay in country fashion; they are well taken care of, and worn with pride no matter their age or condition. Walking around the Sydney Royal Easter Show you can see some well worn, treasured Akubras. Our Morning Announcer Scott was lucky to catch the General Manager of the Sydney Royal Easter Show, Murray Wilton for a chat about what his Akubra means to him.
