The Flower and Garden Pavillion may conjure images of a tranquil garden scene or a meditative floral arrangement – what may not immediately spring to mind is the concept of “poetry in motion”, but that’s exactly what viewers were met with at the Flower and Garden pavillion.
A floral arrangement competition was in full swing when I entered the building, the air tense, with ten teams of two fighting it out for victory in the 568 Floral Arrangement division.
Each team had a set of guidelines to adhere to, they included:
- The exhibits had to remain on display for four days
- Competitors start at 8.30 and finish at 11.30
- The time allowed is strictly 3 hours
- 1.8m circular base is provided
- 3 bicyle wheels provided
- Batts and Glass tubes provided
- Props, flower accessories and sundry provided by RAS
- Exhibitors must bring their own work kit
- The flowers are supplied by East Coast Wildflowers
There were multiple trips, mistakes and hushed discussions whilst I was watching on, no doubt it was a close finish for all competitors and a very difficult one to judge for the officials.
Good luck to all participating and can’t wait to hear the results!
