The Easter Show – A Sea of Culture

With the rampant rise of covid-19 across not only the county but the world, let’s look at the cultural giant that is the Sydney Royal Easter show, and how it taught the whole Sydney city about the significance and growth of the agriculture industry in Australia.

The show started 197 years ago with an aim to increase awareness of the country way of life. The Show is a celebration of Australian culture, from rural traditions to modern day lifestyles, providing unique experiences for everyone. It’s an important opportunity for the area’s growers and manufacturers to showcase their goods and compete with their prized possessions.

The show bags and fried food are of course a part that makes up the allure of the show but it’s the intrigue of the show. The woodchopping competitions showcasing the ‘country strong’ attitude of the outback. The sheep shearers stunning audience with the speed and accuracy with which they remove sheep’s wool. Who could forget the nightly big show, boasting everything entertaining about outback Aus. Everything from rodeo, sheep/pig catch, horse riding shows and of course the V8 hotlaps and motocross jumping
