The massive annual music event, the Grammys, celebrates artists, songs, and albums from all walks of life and genres that celebrate the best country song albums, country artists, and country duos. Here’s a look back on past country Grammy award winners, with three artists to add to your playlist right now.

1. Lil Nas X

Lil Nas X released his debut single old town Road, a rap-infused country song you have heard before. This country rap song with lyrics sure to remain in your head was so successful that it prompted a remix from the country icon himself, Billy Ray Cyrus. This remix ended up subsequently going number one on the Billboard charts. Which later led to a remix with Mason Ramsey, better known as the Walmart yodelling kid, and the rapper Young Thug. Lil Nas X shook up country music as a genre and exposed pop R&B and rap listeners to the beauty of country music. The song won a Grammy in 2019 for best music video. Somehow you haven’t heard this song; all the rest of Lil Nas X’s discography; give it a listen now; you won’t regret it.

2. Marren Morris

Marren Morris, which you may know from her hit song the Middle with Zedd, has infiltrated the charts and our hearts. The country singer who made the smash pop hit “The Middle” has incredible music and even won 2017 the award for country solo performance for my church. Maren Morris is paving the way for new country music that is expressive and as rhythmic as traditional country music. Morris has just released a new album called Humble Quiet, and you should give it a listen and maybe even cry your heart out to a couple of the songs.

3. Kacey Musgraves

Kacey Musgraves has had an incredible career in country music; however, her massive reemergence came after her 2018 Best Album win with Golden Hour. This award catapulted her and her music in front of the entire Grammy audience, prompting many to give it a listen. This country album expertly combines pop and disco elements into an album that many call a 45 minute and 38-second therapy session. Kasey’s inclusion of music that goes right for your heartstrings and also makes you want to dance is a groundbreaking approach to country music!
