The Coleman & Sons Miniature Railway are an institution of fun at the Sydney Royal Easter Show.
Train Driver Di spent some time on Show Radio reminiscing back to when she was young and her father operated the trains for many happy show-goers years ago.
The display has been around for the last 53 years and many adults can recall riding on it in their childhood.
Nowadays since he has sadly passed, the helm of controls are passed down to his children who take great pride in giving rides on the trains as they circulate around a double loop railway line.
The brightly coloured locomotives, Gordon and Henry, hum around the line as they carry carriages filled with happy families and children always disembark with a beaming smile.
“There are kids that go on again and again,” Di remarked, “a girl didn’t want us to pack up the set at the end of one year because she wanted to keep riding it.”
Everybody who operates the attraction is apart of the family and they bring an infectious sense of happiness, from the pride they take in cleaning the engines to driving the engines themselves.
Train travelers also are to keep a look-out as they go through the tunnel for a tucked away surprise as they can see the model railway inside!
