When it comes to female aussie country singers, none are more prevalent than Goulden Guitar and Aria award winner Sara Storer. On Saturday morning, Sarah sat down with Sara to discuss how she got into the industry.
Sara wrote her first song Buffalo Bill in the early 1900s, about an old retired buffalo shooter that she became fast friends with. When she saw how much the song made him smile, it started her off on her country singing journey.
Luck is when preparation meets opportunity, and it was a bout of “luck” that really kicked off Sara’s career in the music industry. Her friend entered her in a talent quest in Adelaide River. She didn’t win 1st 2nd or 3rd place, but what she did win was a scholarship to the College of Country Music where she met industry professionals who gave her her first break.
She’s now been releasing albums for the last 20 years, and is showing no signs of slowing down. Her latest album was released in 2019, and is some of her best music yet. Her subsequent single ‘Raindance’ – a song about hope during troubled times, is a beautiful song with a video clip to match. Check it out above and listen to the interview below!
