St John Ambulance has been in service for nearly 130 years and is filled with wonderful volunteers who are motivated help others. And The Sydney Royal Easter Show is an event that they’ve been providing service for a really long time. Each volunteer has an interesting story on why they take time out of their schedule to help and serve others. During each day of the event, you’d see people in a green medical uniform walking around the Sydney Showgrounds, making sure people are safe and will be prepared if help is needed.
I got the chance to speak with David Czerkies, one of the Duty Commanders for St John’s Ambulance. He was a volunteer for more than 40 years but was part of the Sydney Royal Easter Show for 20.
We sat down and discussed the changes he’s seen during is past and current experience and what the Sydney Royal Easter Show means to him personally and work wise.
If you’re in need of medical help, first aid stations are located around the Sydney Showground. You can find them using the app.
